    Hi
I am a James Bond aficionado. I make no apologies. One of my favourite films is "From Russia With Love'. Not many special effects just 007 going about his business with an elegant swagger and single minded purpose. However one of Bonds indulgences was breakfast and in this film he picks up the house phone and growls, 'Figs.. green and coffee.. very black" in that thick almost wearable Scottish brogue.

    Hi
This week I'm thinking about how quickly we forget, how we live our lives in the immediate future and immediate past but only in this narrow zone. Of course there are a lots of theories about why we have conditioned ourselves to do this and I have a couple of interesting ones myself, but when we reflect on its a bit scary.

    Hi
I've been thinking recently about Food and fitness and lycra. Well not so much about Lycra, but I was reflecting on the fact that I don't often see larger people at the markets. I am using the term larger on purpose because I refuse to use the insulting and provocative labels the diet industry uses.

    Hi

Recently I've been having a discussion with a farmers about allowing interstate produce in to VFMA markets. He has sone strong arguements when he talk about nationalism, constant availability, lower price etc, but as all good arguments do, there are two sides.

    Hi

How do you make a salad interesting ? Thats a question I face almost daily over Summer as I try to feed green leaves to my young Boys. (Those of you who have sons will know at about 7 or 8 they immediately become allergic to any form of green vegetable.) So last week, by chance, I peeled some raw Zucchini from Green Organic into the salad mix, dressed it with some Fetta in oil from Boatshed cheese and wonder or wonder, miracle of miracle .. they ate it ... without fuss. Cleverly zucchini's are only green on the outside and have a subtle nutty flavour eaten raw.

First things first. Sunday is going to get hot but we will still have a market.!
However we do have a hot weather policy so that when or if it does get too hot we will close down. So my advice is get to the market early, do your shopping and retire to the cool of your home.

Here’s just a couple of reason why you should.

    Hi

So the good news this week is that our stallholder Louisa from Shuki and Louisa Dips is back ! Those of you who know about these things will have noticed she was pregnant and the good news is at the end of last year ( right at the end) she delivered a healthy baby girl. But even motherhood can't keep a good stallholder down and Louisa will be back at market this Sunday. I know a few of you have been  missing the Hummous, so miss no longer ... This Sunday will be the beginning of a regular return to the market.

    Hi

Some of you may not be aware but 2014 has been designated the United Nations International  Year of Family Farming.

This worldwide celebration, declared by the United Nations General Assembly, aims to become a tool to stimulate active policies for sustainable development of agricultural system based farmer families, communal units, indigenous groups, cooperatives and fishing families.
