     Hi

I have just taken a call from Ian at  Yapunyah Meadows Free Range Chicken and the good news is that he will be back at the market this Sunday. While I was sharing this good news I was reflecting on how eating seasonally provides natural variety and  dimension to our diets.

     Hi

I heard the Government has announced a review on Food Labelling after the frozen berry scare and this time they are going to have diagrams. So far I haven't been able to get any details on  what sort of diagrams they might be or who they are aimed at. It seems like the traffic light idea is out of vogue but on reflection the whole idea of diagrams seems to me just another way dumbing down of our ability to read and comprehend information.

    Hi
I thought I would give you an update on the Raw Milk situation mainly because there is a public rally next week and some of you may want to attend.

     Hi
Its probably not much of a surprise to you that I think I have got one of the best jobs in the world (if you have to work for a living that is) ..but I was talking to a market shopper before Christmas and she was talking about the excitment of unpacking her bags after coming home from the market and getting a little thrill of surprise as she pulled out a treat or a bag of goodies or an item that she had brought on impluse and forgotten about.

I misplaced my mobile phone the other day ... remember that sinking feeling when you reach for your phone and realise its not where you expect it to be, a frantic search reveals its not in the second place you think of and the dread feeling settles over you as you look in the third place, even though deep down you know its not going to be there.

I was having a post Christmas de-brief with my wife recently and as we recounted the joys and the horrors ( think mountains of unneccesary packaging)  we moved onto the subject of food and how in a seasonal time of fantastic abundance we are increasingly bombarded by images of TV families eating packaged and processed foods.

Well thank goodness all that “merry-happy” nonsense is over with for another year!

In truth I do love it, I participate willing, at times perhaps too willingly, I consume with gusto and we all know where that leads... but in the end of it all, as we close the front door after the New Year has crashed its way in, it’s nice to know it’s over, its all behind us and we can get back to it ... whatever ‘it’ is.

     Hello

Is it Christmas or a holiday Season?  I think its probably all one and the same really, but regardless of what we call it I would like to wish all our customers, visitors and regular shoppers a Merry Christmas an a safe holiday season from all of the stallholders and the Organisers.

Yes Its the season for barbeques.

If I have to guess I would say that most of you possess one of these ubiquitous devices. In all probablity its currently squatting in the backyard neglected having hibernated over Winter and now that you're clearing out the backyard ready  to plant up some more Summer vegetables, you will re-discovered the old friend, then having decided that next year you'll buy a new one, your thoughts will begin drifting towards warmer Summer evening and the sizzle of meat.
