I’ve taken these words directly from the Wild Timor Coffee website This is an inspiring story about how we can all make a difference. As the name Wild Timor Suggests, it starts in East Timor

If you read the Age Food Section today you might have seen the article on the goodness of nuts  and their ability to keep heart disease, type 2 diabetes and even the weight monsters at bay.

     Hi

What I really love about this Farmers Market job is meeting all the people who care passionately about food, the people who grow and sell, the people who come and buy, the people who blog and tweet , the people who record and share what they eat, the people who build websites the people who build communities around themselves of like minded people.

     Hi

Not many of you will know that there has been an important conference held in Melbourne this week about Food Safety. Not the food handling with plastic gloves on one hand and handling the money without gloves with the other hand juggling variety but the food safety that is needed in the purchasing and selling of pre-packaged pre-prepared processed foods.

     Hi

So Jamie didn't cover himself in glory did he? His rather pathetic defence against the Woolworths promotions 'Levy' has left yet another crack in his 'Chef of the People' reputation.

     Hi

Years ago in the first blossom of my relationship I thought it would be really groovy to prove to my new girlfriend how self sustaining we could possibly be. One part of me was interested in lowering my retail footprint the other part was just really trying to impress my girlfriend. After planting a vegetables garden ( she was a vegetarian) and installing a new kobashi compost bin to get rid of everything, I wanted to prove how creative I was and of course that meant brewing my own beer.

     Hi

Recently while preparing cauliflower for dinner my youngest son spotted some brown discoloration on the outside of the flourets. Are you going to wash that dirt off dad? he asked, when I said no.. it wasn't dirt he asked me what it was and guess what... I didn't know so I did some research.

The answer it seems is either 1. discoloration caused by bruising during transport or storage or 2 its simple oxidization caused by the reaction to being picked. A natural although rapid onset of the bio degrading process that makes our composts so good!

     Hi,

I read a horrifying fact on Facebook this week. So understanding that like a newspaper not everything you read on Facebook is true it was quoted that plastic shopping bags take up to 1000 years to decompose in landfill.

Counting back thats about the time of the Norman Conquest of England in  the Middle Ages, when we find artifcats of that era they become invaluable. Imagine Archeologists digging up our landfill in 1,000 years to find all our discarded plastic bags. Have a look at the list and see lots of other horror stories.
